What Are Defects?

  • Any non-conformity that does not meet customer specification
  • Non-achievement of customer-specified requirements in the product/services.
  • Any product/part/service that does not achieve the acceptance of quality fitment, safety, testing, etc., generates a defect.

What are Defectives?

  • A part/product/service is said to be defective if the defects present in its severe and affect its functionality.
  • A product or service having a defect is not suitable for use.
  • A product or service Is considered defective if a defect related to fitment function durability and safety is present.

  • A single-quality characteristic that does not meet customer specifications is called a defect.
  • A complete product that does not meet customer specifications is called  defective.
  • One severe defect can cause a defective product.
  • A single defective product can have one or more defects out of which a minimum of one defect will be severe.
  • Based on the severity defects can be accepted by the customer.
  • Defective shall be rejected and never be dispatched to the customer.
  • The term non-conformity is sometimes used to signify a defect.
  • The term non-conforming is used to signify defective.
  • Metrics like DPU and DPMO are  used for defect calculation.
  • Metrics like percentage PPM, PPB and PPT how used for defective calculation.
